The world loves cats, and so does the internet—so it’s no surprise they’ve taken over origami too! Making origami cats and kittens are fun and creative, especially for cat parents looking to craft a paper version of their furry friend.
While I’ve covered origami animals in another post, cat origami deserves its own spotlight with so many variations and models. I’ve gathered both easy and more complex designs, from flat models for cards to 3D origami cats for display. Some tutorials even include relaxing music—so take your time, unwind, and enjoy!
Cat Origami Paper
Let’s start with the paper! Plain paper works fine—just cut it to size (usually a square), fold, and add details with non-smudging markers. Color or patterned paper can enhance your theme, like a spooky Halloween cat or one that matches your pet’s fur. Here are some origami paper links to get you started (I don’t earn or get compensation from these links).

3D Cat Origami
Want to create a true 3D cat origami? There are plenty of cat origami simple enough to use a single sheet to make a full-body standing cat. Alternatively, modular origami involves folding many small pieces of paper and assembling them into a 3d cat. While modular origami folding is quite simple, it takes time due to the number of pieces involved—but the stunning results are well worth the effort! Be sure to have scissors, glue, and extra paper on hand to complete your project.
